State Bank of India (0941)

SB A/c No. xxxxxxxxxxxx
ECS CLEARING OF TELEPHONE BILL :

Sir,
1. In the context of your refusing to clear the ECS bill for my land line telephone of the BSNL during December 2012 and the telephonic conversation with your manager (on phone no.xxxxxxxxxx ) on Friday 10 January 2013, where in I was told that the payment was stopped as the mandate has expired I would like to bring the following facts to your kind information and necessary action.

A. THE MANDATE IS STILL VERY MUCH VALID
2. The mandate for electronic clearing of the phone bill of my account No. xxxxxxxxxx with Thiruvananthapuram Telecom was given by me to their accounts officer (CMTS) and not to the State Bank of India.

3. As is evidenced by the fact that the Telecom authorities are still sending the bill to your ECS ( and not to me ) the above mandate is very much in force even now. The mandate became effective on 01 December 2011. There is no end date set and it will be valid till such time as I give directions to the contrary to the telephone company.

B. YOU ENDORSED THE MANDATE
4. A copy of the mandate was sent to you for your concurrence. By endorsing it you agreed to debit the amount of the bill electronically from my SB Account No.xxxxxxxxxxx with your bank and reassured the Thiruvananthapuram Telecom that all is well at your end. The telecom company thereby closed all loopholes before going ahead with the ECS clearance.

5. I would say it to the credit of the telephone company that the format for the mandate was set by some one who, unlike certain others, has got her faculties right.

6. Once you endorsed it ( you could have refused to do so ) you are bound to clear the above ECS bill till you hear from me to the contrary. Of course that is unless there are other pressing reasons for not doing so.

7. I am not aware of any pressing reasons for you denying me the ECS facility. As will be obvious from the record of transactions, my sb account no.xxxxxxxxxxx with you is in good standing. And if at all there is any other reasons you ought to have informed me before disallowing the facility to me.

C. PAST HISTORY
8. It may be of pertinence to note that I have been paying my BSNL land line telephone bill by ECS of the state bank of India from this very same sb account of the tvm main branch from almost immediately after this facility was introduced in your bank onwards.

9. During all those long years, none of the staff of the above bank ever brought up the issue of the mandate expiry; I never had to renew the mandate even once. The system was working flawlessly without a single hitch and I never used to bother about my phone bill once it got into the ECS list of the company.

10. I am afraid the problems I am facing now in this regard are all man made.

D. IN CONCLUSION
11. I would again request of you to clear the telephone bill of my account No. xxxxxxxxxxx with Thiruvananthapuram telecom through ECS without fail and the amount debited from the balance to my credit in my sb ac. no. xxxxxxxxxxxxx with your bank.

12. The above may please be treated as specific standing instructions in this regard till such time as you receive written directions to the contrary from me.

I remain Sir,
yours faithfully
Thiruvananthapuram,

january 12, 2013.
